Transceiver for Low Power Radio

RF Monolithics introduces the TR1100, a 1 Mbps version of their second-generation ASH transceiver. The TR1100 operates at 916.5 MHz and is intended for use in North America under FCC 15.249 or Canadian RSS-210 1.2.2 low-power radio regulations.

The miniature TR1100 transceiver is characterized for operation at data rates from 128 kbps to 1 Mbps using amplitude-shift keyed modulation. The use of a wide dynamic range log detector in the receiver, in combination with digital AGC and a compound data slicer, provide robust channel capture characteristics. Two stages of SAW filtering in the receiver signal path also provide excellent out-of-band interference rejection, and SAW filtering of the transmitter output makes certification of the TR1100 to FCC and Canadian low-power regulations straightforward.

Operating receiver current is 7 mA, transmit current is 6 mA average, and sleep mode current is 1 mA. The TR1100 is designed to operate on a supply voltage of 2.7 to 3.5 V DC. The TR1100 is a six-chip RF hybrid which includes an IC, two SAW devices, and three tuning components.
