PLL Synthesizer Module

Thu, 11/29/2001 - 8:38am
Z-Communications released a new phase-locked loop (PLL) module, using advanced chip scale packaging technology, geared for the demanding PCS Basestation market. The PLL1810A covers the 1780 to 1840 MHz frequency range with a 50 KHz step size while delivering phase noise performance. The PLL offers a clean spectral signal of -101 dBc at 10 kHz offset and -123 dBc at 100 kHz offset or, equivalently, a RMS phase error of less than 2.5 degrees integrated over 100 Hz to 100 kHz. The PLL1810A, a single high performance module, alleviates the need to characterize critical loop filter parameters while further replacing the need to use dozens of separate components.

Having a channel-to-channel switching speed of 5 mS and a maximum startup lock time of 10 mS, this device delivers 4 ± 2 dBm into a 50 O load. Excellent harmonic suppression is delineated at -15 dBc and sideband reference spurs are attenuated greater than -70 dBc. Furthermore, the PLL1810A can save precious space on the printed circuit board with its miniature package size and increase battery life by drawing only 34 mA with a 5-volt supply. The PLL1810A is specified to operate over the extended commercial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.

The PLL1810A comes in the standard Z-Communications' low profile PLL package measuring 0.630 × 0.866× 0.14. This device is ideal for automated surface mount assembly and reflow soldering and also available in tape and reel packaging for production requirements.
