High Frequency Inductors

Mon, 11/19/2001 - 3:41am

Providing circuit designers with high frequency, high current devices for use in computer, power management and conversion applications, the TT electronics BI Technologies Magnetic Components Division recently introduced a series of low profile surface mount inductors capable of handling continuous currents up to 27 amps. Designated the HM74 Series, these high performance inductors are constructed with a ferrite core material that exhibits low losses at frequencies up to 5 MHz and are designed with closed magnetic circuit for high density board assembly.

This new family continues BI Technologies' commitment to provide the latest magnetic solutions to today's designers and follows in the footsteps of BI's HM73 family of high power, small footprint inductors.

The surface mount HM74 Series inductors feature footprints approximately 15 mm square and 5 mm high, making them ideal for use in laptop and notebook computers as well as DC/DC converters in distributed power systems or voltage regulator modules (VRM).

The HM74 Series inductors offer inductance ratings from 0.4 μH to 6.3 μH and from 6.5 to 26.0 amps. (Inductance measured at 100 kHz, 0.25 V). The inductors feature a DC resistance from 1.1 m to 17.2 m and operating temperatures from -25°C to +135°C. The HM74 package is compatible with vapor phase and infrared reflow soldering.
