Fairchild Semiconductor International announces the availability of packaged pairs of Stealth™ soft recovery diodes for improved efficiency with reduced space in switch mode power supplies (SMPS). Stealth Diode technology combines high speed and soft recovery characteristics to achieve higher efficiency and lower electromagnetic interference (EMI). Packaging two Stealth diodes in industry standard TO-220A and TO-247 packages reduces PC board space and simplifies assembly.

A diode's performance in a switch mode power supply is characterized by switching times. Stealth technology combines fast recovery ( Stealth diodes can be used as a boost diode in power factor correction circuits, and as a free wheeling diode in uninterruptible power supplies, motor drives and SMPS. These applications frequently require a pair of diodes having a common cathode configuration. Forward current ratings of 8 × 2 amp, 15 × 2 amp or 30 × 2 amp with common cathode connection are available in TO-220A and TO-247 packages with a maximum junction temperature up to 175°C.
