MDS Connector

Mon, 09/24/2001 - 4:51am
Circuit Assembly (CA) is proud to announce the launch of its newly developed MDS connector, a high-density 68-position SCSI connector designed for high performance SCSI applications. Compatible with the SCSI-3 standard, this .050" socket is CA's response to the challenge of providing the market with a high-quality connector that meets the requirements of competitive pricing and high-volume demands.

The MDS connector will effectively serve the SCSI-3 high performance disk drive market, as well as mass storage applications that require a RAID system. The MDS provides a robust and cost-effective design, with superior quality, improved mounting performance and proprietary IDT features.

The design and quality of the MDS connector provide superior termination to cable. It features CA's latest IDT design, essentially a cable guidance system, which has a grooved cover and grooved retainer with a unique two-prong contour design contact. The cable alignment system captures the cable to ensure precise location of conductors before, during, and after termination. The unique contact contour design improves dielectric between the IDT contact and adjacent conductor. The unified die cast frame consolidates several components in one unibody design and greatly improves the mounting and assembly quality.

CA anticipates widespread acceptance of the MDS product from large volume OEM manufacturers of mass storage systems and contract manufacturers who are currently using CA's 68NFDS or a competitive SCSI-3 connector. CA's leading edge design of the MDS will meet the industry needs for a high quality, cost effective solution for high performance SCSI applications.
