Transient Voltage Suppressor

Mon, 08/13/2001 - 4:52am
Littelfuse announced the introduction of its new Surface Mount family of TVS Avalanche Diode arrays, specifically designed to protect Analog and Digital signal lines from ESD transients. The new SP050x series is ideal for high-speed signal line protection in hand held and portable devices such as digital cameras, mobile phones, MP3 players, Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) and laptop computers. The new Avalanche Diodes can also be used in Broad Band and Internet applications such as DSL modems, LAN equipment, set-top boxes and desktop computers to protect board level components from ESD transients originating on the appliance.

The New SP050x family features advanced silicon-avalanche technology for maximum transient protection. Features include a low capacitance of 30 pF, low clamping voltage of 9.2 V, low leakage current and a sub-nanosecond response time making the SP050x series ideal for USB and Audio line protection. The SP050x series clamping voltages is up to 300 percent lower than other non-TVS solutions available to portable device designers. The SP050x can also sustain electrostatic discharges (ESD) of 20 kV per IEC standard and 30 kV per the Human Body Model (HBM). The NEW SP050x family is rated per the International Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) transients immunity standards IEC 61000-4-2 for level 4 (20kV Direct Discharge). The space saving arrays are uni-directional and protect multiple data lines in the ultra small SOT23, TSSOP, and MSOP package.
