The PACUSB-U1/U2/U3 device terminates the 2 data lines for the USB port and is a single chip solution for USB upstream applications. There are three series resistor (R1) values available to engineers to match it and the USB driver's resistance with the USB cable's impedance. The three R1 values that CAMD offers are 15 ohms, 33 ohms, and 22 ohms for PACUSB-U1, PACUSB-U2, and PACUSB-U3 respectively. California Micro Devices Corporation (CAMD) announced the PACUSB-U1/U2/U3, a USB (Universal Serial Bus) termination and filtering product, for use in PDAs, two-way pagers, and Internet appliances. This device is available in a 6-pin SC70 package format, which is significantly smaller than the 6-pin SOT23 package. The small form factor of the PACUSB-U1/U2/U3 enables this device to be used in products where board space constraint is a key factor. Utilizing California Micro Devices' patented P/Active technology, this device provides EMI/RFI filtering, termination and electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection that exceeds IEC 61000-4-2 Level 4 specification. The PACUSB-U1/U2/U3 is able to protect the PDA or Internet appliance from accidental damage caused by ESD up to 30kV (contact discharge) when tested to IEC 61000-4-2 specifications.
