Sectorized Hub Antennas for Broadband Access Systems

REMEC Magnum announced the latest in its family of SectorShape™ antennas. The Series AMH3000 SectorShape antennas are designed for 5.8 GHz UNII-band multi-point hub (head-end) application. These antennas have shaped vertical patterns that provide uniform coverage as a function of range and eliminate nulls. Using a highly automated design process that takes advantage of advanced electro-magnetic analysis and artificial intelligence, the antennas will allow system providers to move easily to sectorized hub coverage as the emerging two-way Internet access market adds subscribers. Down-tilt is achieved electrically with a cosecant-squared elevation pattern insuring uniform illumination of all subscribers in range. Shaped azimuth patterns insure uniform sector coverage, reduced spillover into adjacent cells, and lower backlobes. Service providers can be assured that a maximum number of subscribers can be accommodated on their system since the REMEC hub antennas have very low side and back lobes and excellent cross-polarization rejection.

Three horizontally polarized and three vertically polarized standard models operate over the 5700 to 5900 MHz frequency range. Azimuth sector coverage of 45°, 60°, and 90° is available and power capability is rated at 450 Watts. Gains are 19.5 dBi for the 45° azimuth, 16.5 dBi for the 60° azimuth, and 17 dBi for the 90° sector. REMEC Magnum's advanced CAD also allows quick reaction to custom pattern requirements.
