Low Noise VCO

Thu, 08/30/2001 - 9:28am
Z-Communications announces the introduction of the V585ME24, an answer for many applications among demanding low noise cable modem systems. Generating frequencies that span 1568-1971 MHz within 1-20 Vdc of tuning, this high performance device will further compliment any phase lock loop and provides an incomparably clear signal in the marketplace. Exhibiting a superior SSB phase noise performance of a miniscule -102 dBc/Hz at 10 kHz offset, typical, from the carrier, there is no doubt that this particular VCO doesn't challenge and exceed any alternative existing in the industry.

Delivering to the end-user 6.5 ± 1.5 dBm into a 50Ω load, the V585ME24 requires a nominal 10 V supply while drawing merely 16 mA, typically. Subsequently, this particular VCO exhibits a second harmonic suppression of -9 dBc and delivers unparalleled phase noise performance even with its broad bandwidth. While operating over the extended commercial temperature range of 0 to 75°C and covering the frequency band with an average tuning gain of 33 MHz/V, never before has the PLL designer's task been so dramatically eased. The V585ME24 minimizes pulling to less than 10 MHz with a 14 dB return loss, any phase, and pushes less than 5 MHz/V with a 5% change in the supply voltage.

Technically, this device meets the immediate needs of the design engineer while conveniently packaged in MINI-14S-L, a low-profile surface mount package measuring 0.50 in. × 0.50 in. × 0.13 in.
