Dual Frequency Antenna For Wireless LAN

SkyCross, Inc. introduced the wireless industry's first embedded 2.45 and 5.25 GHz antenna that can be designed into high data rate WLAN (wireless local area network) devices-including wireless laptops, PDAs, and PCMCIA cards.

SkyCross' new dual frequency WLAN antenna is designed for next-generation data devices that will integrate multiple wireless data networking standards, such as 802.11b (2.45 GHz) and 802.11a/HiperLAN 2 (5.25 GHz). An antenna capable of handling both of these frequencies enables engineers to design devices that support new 5.25 GHz applications while at the same time offer backwards compatibility for devices that support existing 2.45 GHz applications.

This dual frequency antenna is designed in a small 1.4 × 0.97 × 0.21 inch package, allowing embedded integration into today's low-profile consumer electronics. The unique capability and ultra-small design is made possible by SkyCross' patented Meander Line Antenna (MLA) technology, which dramatically increases the efficiency and signal pattern for wireless applications. This technology originally was developed by the US military, which continues to rely on it for vital, secure wireless communications in the most rugged of environments.
