AVX Corp. has released a family of Secure Digital (SD) Memory Card connectors that offer normal and reverse configurations as well as push/push ejector options. By offering two keying options and two eject options, AVX presents design engineers with numerous packaging choices. The plastic structure of these connectors also allows for lower construction costs and lower overall weight. Designated the 5638 Series, these connectors are all Secure Digital Association (SDA) compliant.

Secure Digital connectors feature a nine contact configuration, SMT tails and are supplied in tape and reel. Two additional contacts accomplish both "write protect" and "card detect" functions. Guide rails assure proper card alignment while incorporating strain relief solder tabs and location bosses for mechanical robustness. The connectors offer a current rating of 0.5 A per pin and a rated voltage of 5V with dielectric withstanding voltage of 500V rms/min. Operating temperature range is -25 °C to + 90 °C. All parts are surface mountable and compatible with automated assembly equipment.
