1.2 V Regulator

Tue, 07/31/2001 - 4:30am
A tiny, low-voltage, regulator for power-up sequencing in microprocessors is now available from Micrel Semiconductor. Capable of providing up to 150mA, the new MIC5248 is equipped with power-good output.

This power-good feature of the MIC5248 makes it ideally suited for power-up sequencing in microprocessors. It alerts the processor when the output of the regulator has reached and settled on its intended value, allowing the processor to come up gradually. The regulator is also capable of alerting the processor when a fault condition occurs and the output is out of regulation.

Micrel's uCap regulators are stable with smaller ceramic output capacitors, eliminating the need for larger, less reliable tantalum capacitors.

Features include a 150mA output capability, a fixed 1.2V output, power-good feature, stable with ceramic output capacitor, low ground current, logic enable input, fully protect with current limit and thermal shutdown, a fast transient response, a junction temperature range of -40 °C to +125°C, an IttyBitty™ SOT23-5 Package.

Applications include PC motherboards and power-up sequencing.
