Test Automation Solution

Mon, 06/25/2001 - 5:04am
TestQuest announced the availability of its test automation solution for Handspring™ Visor™ handheld computers, further extending its reach in the handheld computer industry.

The new TestQuest Pro System for Handspring builds on the success and extends the functionality of the company's TestQuest Pro System for Palm, the first product to provide complete functional testing for Palm handheld computers. The new product automates the process of testing Handspring handheld computers that, until now, has only been possible through manual testing.

The TestQuest Pro System for Handspring provides complete functional testing of Handspring handheld computers on a continuous basis by automatically simulating all of the actions of a user, such as pressing buttons, writing with a stylus or reading the screen. Since the solution connects directly to the handheld, the test runs in exactly the same environment as if a user had manually entered the commands via the handheld's interface.

The TestQuest Pro captures images on the LCD output of the device and uses either font recognition or a bitmap comparison to determine the success or failure of each test. A logging facility documents the results of each test.

In addition to testing Palm OS applications, the TestQuest Pro System for Handspring provides complete product testing by supporting synchronization testing between the Visor handheld and the Palm desktop application and testing of hardware modules attached to the SpringBoard expansion slot.

The TestQuest Pro System for Handspring is available for the following Visor models: Visor, Visor Deluxe, Visor Platinum, Visor Prism, Prism and Visor Edge. For organizations developing applications or accessories for Handspring handhelds, the TestQuest Handspring solution is an ideal tool for automating complete functional testing.
