Simulation Software Provides Insight to Health Safety Issues

Thu, 06/28/2001 - 8:23am
With the proliferation of mobile phone users, health safety issues have been hitting the headlines with increasing regularity. Many designers are turning to cutting edge simulation software such as CST MICROWAVE STUDIO™ to provide better insight into the risks and effects.

It is now possible to carry out SAR calculations using CST MICROWAVE STUDIO's time domain solver, having imported SAR standard models (FCC / Cenelec / IEEE) with CST MWS's IGES / SAT interface.

Additionally, the interface between CST MWS and the commercially available Anatomical Volume and Surface Data Set — HUGO (Medical VR Studio GmbH) gives a far more detailed insight into the effects of EM fields inside the human body. HUGO features 40 different types of anatomical tissue including blood, white & gray brain substance, fat, and bone marrow etc., which, together with their physical properties at typical frequencies of interest, can be taken into account in the simulation.
