The dual output ranges are 3.3 V/2.5 V and 3.3 V/1.8 V versions and the range of single output modules now includes 5 V, 3.3 V, 2.5 V, 1.8 V and 1.5 V versions. All types include individually regulated outputs with tight regulation, high efficiency and the dual output versions are the same mechanical size as the single output converters. With a profile height of just 8.5mm, the PKN 4000 family is suitable for a broad range of information technology and telecom applications where board spacing is down to just 15mm and input voltages range from 36 to 75 V.
Designed around a ceramic substrate and using thick film technology, synchronous rectification and a high degree of silicon integration, the PKN 4000 has exceptional thermal properties and typical operating efficiencies of over 90%. This approach reflects high mean time between failure (MTBF) figures of over 200 years at +75°C. The high efficiency means low power dissipation, allowing the PKN modules to operate in high ambient temperature environments with low airflow.
All PKN 4000 series converters feature over-voltage protection, over-temperature protection, current limit protection, output voltage adjust and local on/off. The single output versions also include under voltage detection, remote on/off, and an alarm/control function. The dual output versions include individual output voltage adjustment.
Recognizing the need to address safety critical and environmental issues, the PKN family complies with the requirements of EMC specifications such as EN55022 and EN61000. The PKN family also conforms to EN60950 with 1500 V DC isolation, meets the low voltage directive 73/23/EEC and carries both UL and ULc approvals. The modules are manufactured in highly automated ISO9000 approved production facilities and come with a five year warranty.
