1-23 GHz Frequency Synthesizers

Elcom Technologies has designed a new series of dual output, rugged frequency synthesizers with ultra low microphonics and improved phase noise at least 10 dBc lower than previous models.

Ideal in high capacity MW and MMW radios up to 38 GHz, the DFS series offers models with lower phase noise (-115 dBc typical at 100 KHz in KU band operation) and guaranteed zero phase hits — a key feature over the competition. Low Phase noise meets 16, 32,128 and 256 QAM requirements making the synthesizers suitable for high-speed data transmissions.

The DFS series has a tuning bandwidth up to 1000 MHz and step sizes ranging from 25 KHz to 10 MHz. DC power consumption for the synthesizers is under 4 watts and offers wide operating temperature between -35 to + 70°C.

Packaged in a 3.75 × 4.0 × 1.16 housing, the devices are also available in a low profile construction of 3.75 × 4.0 × 0.73 inch package. Additional applications include SONET/SDH Microwave fiber and wireless ATM networks and SATCOM converters.

Additional Specifications for the DFS Series include a frequency range of 0.5 to 23 GHz (in bands), a switching speed of < 25 ms, a output power range of 12 to 18 dBm, a spurious output of -70 dBc, harmonics of -20 dBc, frequency stability of <± 3 PPM (-35 to 70°C), frequency control of BCD, Serial RS-232 or RS-485, DC power of 12/18 VDC-250mA, 8/18 VDC-250mA, an operating vibration of ETSI 300019-1-4, an operating shock of ETSI 300019-1-4 and an integrated OCXO/TCXO.

In addition, the DFS Synthesizers can be customized for automated, high volume manufacturing to meet your special applications.
