Semi-Rigid Cables

MICRO-COAX announces the availability of semi-rigid cables that offer shielding and insertion loss characteristics. The design of the cables improves system performance and increases talk time, making them well suited for transmitting amplified signals across printed circuit boards used in cellular phones and other wireless devices. V The semi-rigid cables feature tin-plated copper for improved solderability. The protected cables employ a chemical corrosion inhibitor that bonds to the copper and provides an effective barrier to corrosion without the loss of solderability.

Adding to the improved performance of MICRO-COAX's semi-rigid cables is the elimination of dielectric extrusion. "LL" dielectrics made from expanded PTFE are used and are mechanically stable under temperature extremes. As a result, the cables are ideal for reflow applications.

The semi-rigid cables are designed with center conductor leads formed at right angles to, or coplanar with, the bottom of the copper outer jacket. This technique improves installation onto thru-hole or surface mount circuit boards. The copper outer jacket can have ink jet markings that allow location finding by pick-and-place vision systems, allowing the cable to be used in high-volume automated manufacturing environments.

MICRO-COAX offers 74 standard semi-rigid cables, including 26 QPL models. All the cables have 100% RF shielding and low VSWR. Impedance ranges from 5 Ω to 125 Ω. Cable sizes vary from 0.008 to 0.750 to meet a variety of application requirements.
