Resettable PTCs

Wed, 05/30/2001 - 11:55am
Littelfuse, Inc. announced the introduction of its newest series of surface mount Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC) resettable circuit protection devices. The 1206 Series is one-third the size of the 1812L series, previously Littelfuse's smallest available size. The 1206 Series is introduced in a 1.1A-rating with ratings ranging from .2A to 1.5A to be released shortly after. The device's dimensions of .124 inches (length) × .065 (width) make it the smallest PTC offered by Littelfuse and especially appropriate for computer applications where space is at a premium.

The new series is based on the proven 1812 Next Generation platform. The 1206 series provides for protection of electronic circuits against overcurrent conditions in a wide range of computer and peripheral applications, including PC Cards, modems, keyboard and mouse ports, printers, network cards, and USB (Universal Serial Bus) ports. In addition, the decreased size allows for use in applications such as laptops and PC cards where size is a concern. Designed for "plug and play" applications, these devices conform to the USB standard requirements for the connection of peripherals to computers.
