VCO Delivers Unmatched Noise Performance for Microwave Radios

Z-Communications, Inc. announces the CLV1540E for the demanding microwave radio market. This revolutionary device utilizes patented design techniques to deliver unequalled SSB phase noise performance together with superior harmonic suppression. The CLV1540E generates frequencies between 1520-1565 MHz within 0.5-4.5 Vdc of control voltage wile with an average tuning sensitivity of 23 MHZ/V. this low cost device exhibits a remarkably clean spectral signal of -110 dBc/Hz, typically, at 10 kHz from the carrier while attenuating the second harmonic to better than -20 dBc.

The CLV1540E is sure to strengthen any telemetry radio due to its 1.1:1 linearity over frequency and temperature and its innovation design allows for quick implementation into PLls where the error voltage can be taken directly from the IC's charge pump circuitry. This rugged oscillator operates off a 5 Vdc source while drawing only 24 mA, typically, and is designed for the toughest outdoor applications as it is specified to operate over the extended commercial temperature range of -40 to 85 °C. The CLV1540E is also heightened by pushing less than 2 MHz/V within a 5% change of the supply voltage and pulls less than 2 MHz with a 14 dB return loss, any phase.

The CLV1540E comes in Z-Communications industry standard MINI surface mount package measuring 0.50 inches× 0.50 inches× 0.22 inches. This VCP is ideal for automated surface mount assembly and reflow; it is available in tape and reel packaging for production requirements.
