Ericsson Microelectronics announces a complete Bluetooth radio solution for the growing CDMA cellular market. By incorporating this solution, manufacturers can significantly reduce time-to-market for CDMA mobile phones utilizing Bluetooth wireless technology.

The PBA 313 04 Bluetooth radio is a complete transceiver, including all external components except antenna. Digital control signals, a frequency reference source and antenna are the only required interfaces. The innovative self-shielding design eliminates the need for an external shield.

Supplied in a highly compact ceramic BGA (Ball Grid Array) package, the PBA 313 04 is designed for embedded CDMA applications, and is also suited to applications requiring a flexible form factor.

The Ericsson Bluetooth PBA 313 04, utilizing a BiCMOS ASIC, forms a complete radio, and has, for example, the RX and TX baluns and antenna filter integrated into the substrate. Connectivity is achieved through a BGA. RF output power is Class 2, and the PBA 313 04 is compliant with Bluetooth specification version 1.1. the use of a complete LTCC based module enables design of very efficient, low cost filters to work with the highly integrated radio IC that is required for a Bluetooth radio in a mobile phone environment.
