Power Amplifier Test System

Anritsu Company, a provider in high-performance test and measurement solutions, has enhanced its ME7840A Power Amplifier Test System (PATS) with additional measurement capability, making it the most comprehensive solution for real-time simultaneous tuning of power amplifier parameters. The ME7840A can now conduct ACPR, IMD, PAE, compression, harmonics, and S-parameter measurements with a single connection, thereby creating a turnkey solution that allows for unprecedented convenience, speed, and accuracy when analyzing power amplifiers.

The new capabilities perfectly complement the ME7840A's existing features, including the ability to conduct swept frequency and swept power measurements. By combining Anritsu's Scorpion® Vector Network Measurement System (VNMS), Scorpion PA Navigator™ user interface, and a test set, PATS is a complete integrated solution that increases design and production throughput of next-generation high-power amplifiers.

A flexible single-connection test set that supports 100 Watt testing between 800 MHz and 2400 MHz is at the center of PATS. The test set accommodates external instruments for ACPR measurements. The Scorpion VNMS is a versatile S-parameter analyzer with integrated options for conducting harmonic and IMD measurements between 10 MHz and 6 GHz.

Linking the test set and VNMS is the Scorpion PA Navigator, which makes setup, calibration, and analysis easy, as well as simplifying the creation of customized measurements. Designed for use at both the manufacturing and R&D stages, the Scorpion PA Navigator is a Windows®-based user interface that promotes intuitive and straightforward operation of PATS. It also allows for the easy integration of an optional power meter, modulation synthesizer, and modulation analyzer into the ME7840A.
