Mon, 04/30/2001 - 6:15am
Cricket is a handheld, wideband, wireless receiver designed specifically for sweeping and optimizing Local Area Networks (LANs). The instrument measures coverage of FHSS (Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum) CDMA networks which operate on the IEEE 802.11 standard allowing the user to measure and determine the Access Point, PER, and RSSI signal levels aiding in locating the hub and access points throughout a building. Cricket demodulates FHSS signals and is compatible with IEEE 802.11. in addition, the instrument measures narrowband energy (RSSI) and displays other sources of interference such as microwave ovens and DSSS signals. The unit features a built-in display, keypad and two removable battery packs for true portability.
