Othello One delivers voice and Internet data rate capabilities.

Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI) unveiled its Othello™ direct conversion radio chipset for GSM/GPRS cellular phones and wireless Internet devices. ADI's Othello One™ integrates the functionality of the first-generation Othello radio chipset into a single chip. Othello One addresses GSM standards such as EDGE and GPRS.

ADI's direct conversion technology simplifies radio architecture by allowing incoming signals to be converted to baseband and eliminates the need for intermediate frequency SAW filters. ADI's Othello RF architecture offer benefits that include support for voice and data throughput rates up to 384 kbps, 1000 hours of standby time and 25 percent reduction in the size of the radio section. Othello One enables dual and tri-band GSM cellular phone manufacturers to adapt products to multi-mode and multi-slot data applications.
