Clip-on EMI Shielding

Mon, 04/30/2001 - 6:15am
Chomerics, a division of Parker Hannifin Corporation, has introduced CLIP-SHIELD™ clip-on EMI shielding gaskets. These gaskets provide secure mechanical attachment of conductive elastomer gaskets for EMI shielding on electronic enclosures. CLIP-SHIELD gaskets are designed for enclosure applications requiring both high levels of EMI shielding and resistance to outdoor environments.

Standard CLIP-SHIELD gaskets feature a Chomerics CHO-SEAL® conductive elastomer bonded to a flexible PVC/TPE-coated aluminum clip. This design replaces pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) tapes as a gasket attachment method. Available CHO-SEAL conductive elastomers include S6305, which provides excellent shielding performance and environmental resistance, and 6370, which is UL 94V-0 flammability rated. These conductive materials can be co-extruded with a non-conductive silicone, which provides environmental protection.

CLIP-SHIELD gaskets provide shielding effectiveness from 55 to 120 dB from 200 MHz to 10 GHz depending on the CHO-SEAL material. Different clip sizes accommodate panel thicknesses from 0.06 in. (1.59 mm) to 0.50 in. (12.7 mm). CLIP-SHIELD gaskets readily fit curved mounting surfaces. They are available as well as in 90-degree spliced corners. Conductive elastomer extrusions widths are available up to 0.75 in. (19.05 mm). Custom gasket cross sections can also be design
