Surface Mount Diplex Filter

Wed, 02/21/2001 - 8:22am
Pulse announced the availability of a line of surface-mount diplex filters. These filters contribute to the quality and performance of today's broadband interactive cable communications systems by separating the upstream (from the user) and downstream (to the user) signals. These integrated filter modules will allow manufacturers of cable modems, set-top boxes, Internet appliances, and other high-speed, interactive cable devices to save board space, reduce part count, and simplify the equipment design when compared to a discrete filter solution.

The CX6002 filter module allows two-way communication between the customer premise equipment (CPE) and the cable network with minimal crossover interference between the downstream broadcast frequency spectrum and the customer-to-Internet upstream communication band. In most bi-directional cable applications, the 54 to 864 MHz frequency range carries the downstream broadcasts and the 5 to 42 MHz range carries the upstream communications. The CX6002 diplex filter separates these upstream and downstream signals, delivering a low-pass signal (less than 42 MHz) at one port and a high-pass signal (greater than 54MHz) at the second port. The design provides excellent return loss, crossover isolation and port-to-port isolation.

Measuring 1.00 × 0.5 × 0.23 inches, the CX6002 surface mount module minimizes board space, enabling compliance to DOCSIS and other network requirements. This diplex filter needs no tuning, further reducing assembly costs for the customers.
