International Transformers

Tue, 02/13/2001 - 9:48am
Signal Transformer, an operating unit of the Insilco Technologies Group, has expanded its HPI family of high power international transformers with the introduction of the 1250 VA, 1500 VA, and 1750 VA sizes. The three new sizes were developed to meet the growing applications in which high power international transformers are being designed. These new additions complete the HPI line, providing a full range from 1250 VA to 3500 AV.

Signal's HPI transformers feature a unique coil construction that maintains excellent performance and reduces the size and weight of the transformers. The HPI-12 weighs 31 lbs., the HPI-15 is 35.75 lbs., and the HPI-17 is 38.5 lbs. All three transformers have a height of 6.06 inches. Dielectric strength of the transformers is 400 VRMS Hipot. RMS ratings are 230 V @ 5.4 A for the 1250 VA sized HPI-12, 230 V @ 6.5 A for the 1500 VA sized HPI-15, and 230 V @ 7.6 A for the 1750 VA sized HPI-17.

The coil construction allows the HPI family to comply with a variety of agency standards. All HPI transformers are UL recognized to UL 506, as well as being certified to CSA C22.2, VDE 0550, and IEC 950.

The addition of the three new VA sizes expands the HPI family to six transformers. All HPI transformers now offer features including "Touch-Safe" terminals that allow faster, more cost-effective certification by safety agencies of OEM products. Signal has designed the HPI family with 5 mil thick copper foil electrostatic shields to better control common mode noise and provide superior leakage traits, so the transformers can be used in medical applications.
