High Power T-Switch

Dow-Key Microwave, a subsidiary of Dover Corp., introduced the 5111HAJ-730322-3, a high power T-Switch with low distortion for space-based applications. This electro-mechanical T-Switch with low passive intermodulation distortion is among the highest-power switches developed for S-band space applications.

Designed for space-based transmit applications in the frequency band from 2.5 to 4.8 GHz, this high level performance switch moves high power signals from one port to another and is rated for peak RF power levels as high as 560 W with an average power level of 140 W. Using "break-before-make" switch contacts, the switch is used for cold-switching operations. It requires 25 ms or less to switch internal signal paths.

Between 2.5 and 4.0 GHz, VSRW (max.) is 1.20, and insertion loss (max.) is 0.15 dB. Isolation is 65 dB minimum, and the RF power handling capability is 140 W CW. When frequency is between 4.0 and 4.8 GHz, VSRW (max) is 1.25:1, insertion loss (max.) is 0.20 dB, and isolation is 60 dB minimum.
