Micron Technology announced the availability of PC2100 CAS Latency 2 (CL2) DDR SDRAM registered and unbuffered DIMM modules in 128MB and 256MB densities. Micron is accepting orders for production volumes of PC2100 CL2 DDR SDRAM modules and PC266 CL2 components.

PC2100 DDR SDRAM modules meeting the CL2 specification provide data faster than parts meeting the CL2.5 specification by reducing the lead-off latency.

DRAM lead-off latency is a key factor in the performance of the microprocessor. Lower lead-off latency reduces the amount of time it takes to transfer data from the DRAM to the microprocessor whenever a new burst of data is requested.
