ITT Industries, Microwave Systems has introduced a new high performance dual channel synthesizer. The MS-2000 is a Ku-band device which uses an internal oscillator and dual upconverter blocks to provide a flexible and low cost exciter for current and future wireless applications. The low phase noise internal oscillator is upconverted using dual phase locked upconverter blocks. This architecture creates an inexpensive alternative to YIG based systems while providing comparable performance. The digital interface utilizes the I2C format (other interfaces available). The device requires a stable reference (onboard option available) and ± 12 VDC. The output and optional reference signals use an SMA connector, while the DC power and digital control are supplied via a 15 pin D subminiature connector. Unit offers a phase noise of 82 dBc/Hz at 10,000 Hz offset and a Spurious Output of 50 dBc. This device is packaged in an aluminum housing and measures 9.5× 6× 1.4. It weighs 3.3 kg.
