SM Series From Stackpole Offers High Power Handling Without Compromising Solder Joint Integrity

June 28, 2011 8:25 am | Wireless Design & Development | Product Releases | Comments

High power SMD ceramic based chip resistors are susceptible to solder joint failure, cracking, and pulling the solder lands off the PCB. This is due to the difference in the coefficient of thermal expansion between standard PCB materials, such as FR4 and ceramic. Stackpole’s SM Series surface mount molded wirewounds have compliant terminations that expand and contract with the PCB eliminating those concerns.
