Analog Solutions for Automotive Toll Tag Systems

Skyworks Solutions, Inc. today announced it has introduced analog solutions for low-noise receivers being used in high-sensitivity radio frequency (RF) automotive highway tag applications, including toll tag transponder systems. Skyworks’ devices are being deployed across 40 million transponders supporting small signal RF applications where primary DC power is not available.

AVX Corporation has developed a new wideband directional coupler with high directivity. Based on thin-film multilayer technology, which provides the miniature part with excellent frequency performance and rugged construction for reliable automatic assembly, AVX’s ITF High Directivity LGA coupler features a 0402 chip size, high directivity (20dB), and a stable coupling factor (24±2dB) over a broad frequency range (700-2700MHz).

Custom MMIC is offering two new devices from its growing MMIC design library. The CMD157 (die) and CMD157P3 (packaged) are GaAs MMIC low-noise amplifiers (LNAs) for applications from 6 to 18 GHz. These broadband devices each boast an impressively low noise figure of 1.5 dB, deliver greater than 25 dB of flat gain, and have a corresponding output 1 dB compression point of +10 dBm.
