Meaghan's Minute: Power Harvesting
Today on Meaghan's Minute, brought to you by Memory Protection Devices , researchers at Duke University’s Pratt School of Engineering have designed a power-harvesting device with efficiency similar to modern solar panels, with inexpensive materials that are configured and tuned to capture microwave signals.
According to Duke, the five-cell meta-material array wirelessly converts the microwave signal to direct current voltage capable of recharging a cell phone battery or other small electronic devices.
This device has the potential to harvest signals from a variety of energy sources such as satellite, sound, and Wi-Fi signals.
