Motor Driver Integrates Hall Commutation
Allegro MicroSystems’ A1448 motor driver uses a CMOS semiconductor process to incorporate a Hall sensor, the motor control circuitry and the full output bridge. A single input control pin allows for direct input PWM for speed control, initiating the active braking function and engaging micro-power sleep mode. The sleep mode enables the removal of a FET transistor for switching the device on and off. The chip exhibits full device functionality down to 1.8 V VDD, reverse battery protection and output short circuit protection. The product includes a soft-switching algorithm, a max. thickness of 0.4 mm and an exposed pad. The 6-pin, DFN-packaged component is appropriate for powering low-voltage brushless DC motors in haptic applications and vibration ring tones.
