Getting Around the Technical Issues with Battery-assisted UHF RFID Tags

One way to overcome the read sensitivity limitation of passive tags is to add a battery to supply the IC. The RF signal is now only used to carry the information not to supply the IC. Of particular interest are the so-called battery-assisted passive (BAP) tags, also known as semi-passive tags.
