Noise Com today announced the UFX-EbNo Series of Precision Carrier-to-Noise (C/N) Generators, a family of fully automated instruments for testing wireless LAN, cable modem, satellite, and military systems. The new generators feature substitution calibration, comprehensive automation, and backward compatibility with a large existing base of C/N generators. The UFX-EbNo Generators support five operating modes: C/N, bit energy-to-noise density (Eb/No), carrier-to-noise density (C/No), carrier-to-interferer (C/I), and noise generator. The instruments in this series operate in frequency bands between 5 MHz and 44 GHz. The UFX-EbNo Generators produce highly accurate and repeatable results over variable power levels from 55 dBm to +5 dBm, and operating frequencies up to 44GHz. The number of mechanical switches and attenuator elements integrated into the instruments is minimal. This improves reliability and repeatability to enable 24/7 tests of communication systems with a low BER, or optimized use in manufacturing and product quality assurance environments. The instruments are also equipped with an optional automatic gain control (AGC) that corrects input signal drift up to 0.2 dB resolution.
