Logarithmic RF Power Amplifier

Maxim introduces the MAX4000/MAX4001/MAX4002 family of power controller ICs intended for closed-loop bias control of GSM power amplifiers (PAs). These devices operate in the 100 MHz to 2.5 GHz frequency range, supporting GSM/GPRS, EDGE, or TDMA cellular handset applications.

This series of controllers offers three input voltage ranges, eliminating the need for external attenuators and simplifying PA control-loop designs. The MAX4000 input voltage range extends from – 45 dBm to 0 dBm. The MAX4001 provides an input voltage range of – 35 dBm to +10 dBm. The MAX4002 input range is – 30 dBm to +15 dBm.
