Radio Waves announced the availability of the new Quad-Hub base station antenna. This represents a new approach in Point-to-Multipoint antenna systems. Where current system hubs are comprised of four separate 90-degree sector antennas mounted on a tower, or in a cluster mount configuration, the Quad-Hub contains four 90-degree sector antennas within a single compact unit. This antenna combines the advantages of the 360-degree coverage of a single omni-directional antenna with the high gain and directivity of a sector antenna. The 3.5 GHz Quad-Hub measures only 28 inches high, and is 7 inches in diameter. This drastically reduces the windload in a system that would deploy four separate sector antennas. There is also a substantial savings in installation time of a single hub antenna.
The Quad-Hub is available in two configurations. The first model is a 4 × 90-degree antenna with four individual Type "N" female connectors, one for each sector. The second configuration features a 4 × 1 RF switching unit internal to the antenna unit. Both models are offered in vertical polarization with 16-dBi gain. Radio Waves, Inc. offers the Quad-Hub in addition to their full line of 60-degree, 90-degree, and 120-degree sectors.
