Toumaz Limited has established a new fabless subsidiary, Toumaz Microsystems, which will be responsible for its growing wireless IC business. Toumaz has secured investment and support from Imagination Technologies Group as a strategic partner for this business. In order to strengthen the focus of both the healthcare and semiconductor divisions of Toumaz, the board of Toumaz Ltd has decided to reorganise into two distinct businesses: Toumaz UK covering health technology & solutions; and Toumaz Microsystems covering integrated circuits for low power wireless communication.
Inmarsat has begun the process of including its subsidiary companies within a new organisational structure that will align the Inmarsat business more closely to core vertical market segments and continue to support both direct and indirect distribution of its services. As of 1st January 2012, Inmarsat Solutions, led by Jim Parm, is responsible for Inmarsat’s global direct and indirect sales and marketing delivery.

The driver’s seat is fitted with 360 sensors that measure pressure according to a scale of zero to 256. Each reading is plotted to create a 3-D image — essentially a topographic map of your ass — used as a personal identifier.
The IEEE Wireless Communications & Networking Conference (WCNC 2012) has initiated the registration process for its annual event to be held April 1 – 4 at the Palais des Congrès – Porte Maillot in Paris, France. UPM has reached an agreement with SMARTRAC N.V. whereby UPM sells its RFID business to SMARTRAC. UPM will become an indirect shareholder of SMARTRAC with a 10.6 percent economic interest through the company OEP Technologie B.V. The closing of the deal is expected to take place during the first quarter of 2012.
According to the latest research from Informa Telecoms & Media, awareness of Smart TVs remains low as UK retailers fail to educate consumers of their benefits and provide even the most basic information regarding connected-TV features. As reported earlier Tuesday, Amazon has released a software update for its Kindle Fire tablet, promising enhanced “fluidity and performance” and improved “touch navigation responsiveness.” But nowhere in its update language does Amazon speak to improvements in the speed of its Silk browser. As it turns out, the new software update doesn’t seem to improve browser performance to a significant degree.
