7Layers Selects R&S to Enhance Conformance and Carrier Acceptance
7Layers expands its device testing capabilities and capacity to meet next generation market needs and cover key new technologies such as LTE-Advanced, VoLTE, IMS, RCS, E911 over IMS, AGNSS, OTDOA and eCID
Columbia, MD, February 25, 2014 -- 7Layers has selected the R&S TS8980FTA and R&S CMW500 wireless test platforms for conformance and carrier acceptance testing of 3GPP Release 8 & 9 devices. With these capabilities, 7Layers can support emerging technologies including VoLTE (voice over LTE), IMS (IP multimedia subsystem), RCS (rich communications services), E911 over IMS, LTE AGNSS (assisted GNSS), OTDOA (observed time difference of arrival) and eCID. The Rohde & Schwarz test platforms are also software upgradeable to support carrier aggregation and other LTE Release 10+ features that are increasingly important to 7Layers customers.
Not only are next generation mobile devices becoming more powerful, they are also growing in complexity in the way they support features that many take for granted, such as making a voice call. In response, test requirements for ensuring their quality have quickly evolved, and the test equipment supporting these requirements has had to make some dramatic shifts.
Testing a voice over LTE enabled device, for example, requires many new tests surrounding VoLTE. Meeting these challenges requires state-of-the-art conformance and carrier acceptance test systems, such as the R&S TS8980FTA and R&S CMW500, that can address these types of testing complexities, but also deliver the flexibility to support legacy and future technologies.
"As the mobile wireless industry moves towards an all-IP world, 7Layers is prepared with a complete range of certification and acceptance testing capabilities for next generation devices," said Fernando Rodriguez, COO of 7Layers. "As an accredited test laboratory, we are continually striving to bring our customers the best and latest in testing capabilities so they may get their products to market faster. Rohde & Schwarz is a key partner in helping us achieve this goal."
