Research In Motion (TSX:RIM) says it has been chosen to provide security technology to EnStream, a mobile payment company set up by Canada's three largest wireless networks.

The BlackBerry maker also owns technology for secure payments between consumers and retailers on mobile devices.

Under the agreement, RIM says it will manage security credentials for SIM cards in BlackBerrys and devices running both the Android and Windows operating systems.

The system can be used as a substitute for debit or credit cards.

EnStream is a joint venture between BCE Inc.'s Bell (TSX:BCE), Rogers (TSX:RCI.B) and Telus (TSX:T).

RIM shares gained four cents to $7.73 in early trading Monday on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
