HellaPHY™ Honored for Outstanding Innovation LA JOLLA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Acorn Technologies announced today that its HellaPHY™ chip-level IP core solution for OFDM-based 4G wireless networks has received a 2010 4GWE Product of the Year Award from TMC and Crossfire Media.

HellaPHY offers mobile operators a more than 60 percent gain in spectral efficiency. With the resulting increase in capacity and bandwidth efficiency, mobile operators can deliver higher data rates and wider coverage to end-users, greatly improving the business case for operators deploying LTE or WiMAX networks. HellaPHY is compatible with and boosts performance of single antenna or multiple antenna (MIMO) receivers. When embedded in handsets or base stations, the technology greatly reduces network total cost of ownership (TCO). Service providers can deploy fewer base stations and still deliver a better user experience with faster downloads and longer talk times.

“We are very pleased to be recognized by TMCnet for this honor,” said Tom Horgan, CEO, Acorn Technologies. “It is our mission to bring to market technologies that will significantly enhance the mobile user’s experience, and we believe HellaPHY has taken an important first step in achieving this goal by greatly improving the overall receiver performance.”

"I congratulate Acorn Technologies for being honored with a 4GWE Product of the Year Award for their advancement of 4G technologies. The entire wireless industry looks forward to more innovative solutions from them in the coming year," Carl Ford, founder and community developer, Crossfire Media.

“Acorn Technologies has proven they are committed to quality and excellence while addressing real needs in the marketplace. 4GWE is delighted to bestow a Product of the Year Award to Acorn for their HellaPHY solution,” said Rich Tehrani, CEO, TMC.

The Second Annual 4GWE Product of the Year Award winners will be featured on the 4GWE Website and published in its e-newsletter.
