Integrated Solution Enables Gigabit Ethernet Networks for Fixed-to-Mobile and Mobile-to-Mobile Applications

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--BridgeWave Communications and Broadband Antenna Tracking Systems (BATS) announced the successful integration of BATS’ automatic antenna aiming and tracking technology and BridgeWave’s high-capacity wireless radio systems.

BridgeWave is the first company to deliver wireless full-rate gigabit Ethernet systems that provide network connectivity during movement.

Through first-of-its-kind technology, BATS’ auto-tracking system creates search patterns and predictive algorithms that automatically locate a desired connection point, while BridgeWave’s radio systems transport full-rate gigabit data between fixed-to-mobile or mobile-to-mobile locations. This allows for real-time tracking capability on one or both ends of the link. Once the system is deployed, it will automatically locate and lock signal position, providing nearly instantaneous gigabit connectivity.

“BridgeWave is the right partner for integrating our cutting-edge technology into their high-capacity radio systems,” said Phillip Cramer, vice president of sales and marketing of BATS. “This new solution will cut down the number of hours and personnel needed to accurately locate, establish and continuously maintain a wireless high-speed network connection.”

“This collaboration with BATS marks the first available wireless high-capacity systems to provide fiber-like performance for today’s fixed-to-mobile and mobile-to-mobile applications," said Amir Makleff, president and CEO of BridgeWave. “We’re focused on expanding our product offerings to solve network issues where government, mobile, and private users require high-capacity connections, including applications where establishing communications is challenging."

The integrated solution allows BridgeWave to expand applications for its high-capacity wireless links to include offshore – ship-to-shore, ship-to-ship, and military communications including, fixed-to-remote applications where communications are established between a command center and remote facility.

In mobile-to-mobile applications where one or two ends of a network are in constant movement, the system provides seamless network performance. Where temporary communications is needed, response teams will have the ability to quickly deploy and configure high-speed, high-capacity wireless networks.

TESSCO Technologies Incorporated, a valued BridgeWave partner, will offer the industry’s first auto-tracking high-capacity radio systems. TESSCO provides integrated product and supply chain solutions to the professionals that design, build, run, maintain, and use wireless mobile, fixed, and in-building systems.

“The integration of BridgeWave’s radios with the BATS platform opens a new world of possibilities for high-capacity wireless connectivity in mobile applications,” said Scott McClure, broadband business unit leader of TESSCO Technologies Incorporated. “The fact that wireless broadband point-to-point links, with speeds over 1Gbps, can be deployed in mobile-to-fixed or a mobile-to-mobile environment expands the capabilities of resources in the field. I see a need for this capability in the Military and Public Safety with first responders as well as industries such as Oil & Gas.”
