By Rubayyat Mahbub Turjo and Adnan Mousharraf Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Dhaka, Bangladesh The article focuses on the revolution of talking ceramics in the field of wireless communication, especially their applications, property requirements and recent R&D works on some talking ceramic materials which are ideally suitable for wireless communication.
We’ve all seen it happen – a pooch waiting in the car for its owner on what feels like a thousand degree day. Even with the car off, the temperature inside can rise to a harmful, potentially life-threatening level. Aaron Starkman felt the threats first hand. After leaving his dog, Hefty, in the car for what he thought would be a couple minutes in the pouring rain, he returned after a 20-minute-long lineup to the sun shining and Hefty struggling in the heat.
Access to the Internet and connectivity are often taken for granted by people living in urban and suburban communities. Many people have come to expect wireless access as a part of daily life. It’s no longer a luxury, it’s a necessity. When I moved to Brant County in rural Ontario, I already had a number of years of experience as a networking consultant.
I’ve been a Blackberry lover since day one, and for a long time, I loathed each person I saw with an iPhone. In the back of my mind I knew it was pure jealousy, as my good ol’ berry was falling apart in my hands. My carelessness aided in the destruction of this once shiny, new device. At the top of the phone you could see the green circuit board shining through, the plastic covering broke off during an epic fall.

We believe the most critical factors as an RF component supplier are to deliver the most compelling performance, lowest power consumption and widest bandwidth capability 4G RF components, while driving the most cost-effective solutions to our customers.
Twelve journalists pack into a tiny glass room with the most captivating views of Oslo – the land of the midnight sun. Situated at the top of Holmenkollen, an Olympic ski jump, the room showcases 360° views of Oslo’s hilly countryside, lively downtown and Pipervika, the Norwegian capital’s principal harbor.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association data says that lightning is the 2 nd leading cause of storm deaths in the US with about 100 each year. This is only behind heat related deaths but is more than hurricanes and tornadoes combined. In addition, lightning causes about 1000 injuries and $5 billion of damage each year -- and that is just in the US.
It is the summer before I enter my senior year at Rutgers University, and bittersweet tastes have entered my mouth regarding graduation, and all the work to follow. The excitement of warm weather and time off was quickly shadowed by the search for a worthwhile internship. As college students, we have been bombarded with economic premonitions of unemployment upon graduation.
By Janine E. Mooney, Editor Design changes present new opportunities, and requirements, that allow the RF industry to assume a much greater application reach. Malcolm Gladwell, a British-born Canadian journalist, bestselling author and speaker, once said, “Connectors are people in a community who know large numbers of people and who are in the habit of making introductions.
By Janine E. Mooney, Editor EMI gaskets are a must in order to properly block all interference from reaching your device. A key concern when shielding your design is choosing a gasket. Gaskets are used to seal seams and other gaps that can cause problems in shielding, thus implementing the best fit is imperative.
By Janine E. Mooney, Editor EMI has the ability to interrupt or even destroy the functionality of unprotected electronics. What’s more important than protecting your valuable electronics from potential threats? Not much. Especially with regards to military electronics, which are growing more and more prevalent every day.
By Janine E. Mooney, Editor Inductors are a vital part of most EMI filters, and can be a smart addition to your design. Connectors, enclosures, resistors, capacitors, attenuators, inductors... and how does this all relate to EMI? EMI inductors “ideal inductors” as opposed to “real” inductors; they have inductance but no resistance or capacitance and they do not either dissipate or radiate energy.
The fabled Pony Express of the American West started carrying mail on April 3, 1860. At a time when the typical wagon train required four or five months to travel from Missouri to California, the Pony Express used relays of fresh horses and riders to cover the same distance in just 10 days. Well planned and well executed, it represented the cutting edge in western communications.
Global analysts, cellcos, and machine-to-machine (M2M) solution providers all agree on at least one thing – M2M is on a hockey stick growth trajectory. International alliances of mobile operators with other operators and/or solution providers are being formed. Acquisitions are being made that strengthen some providers with new technologies, access to broader markets, and better purchasing power.
With nearly 90% of adults in the U.S. now using mobile phones and the majority of those users going online with their mobile devices (Pew Internet), the mobile communications revolution is in full swing. This unprecedented level of 24/7 connectivity has changed the way people live in countless ways – providing a medium to connect in real time with family and friends, merging digital and physical experiences and even sparking social movements.
