MIPS Technologies’ GPS RF tuner IP integrates RF front-end for GPS receivers and global navigation satellite system (GNSS) systems in the L1 band. The silicon-proven device is well suited for companies developing new GPS devices or adding GPS functionality to other types of devices such as handheld games, portable media players, mobile PCs and digital cameras. The Galileo-compatible IP uses automatic gain control and tuning, a fractional PLL and optimization for system-in-package (SiP) integration with a product roadmap target migration to 65 nm. The CI10084tg core has a die area of 4 mm² (including IO ring with ESD protections) with an integrated LNA and PLL loop filter.
