MIMO-powered Transceivers Double Mobile-data Access Speed

NXP’s WiMAX 2x2 MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output)-powered family of transceivers for mobile and handheld applications will allow WiMAX infrastructure OEMs and ODMs to implement more robust WiMAX functionality, while achieving savings in overall power, board real-estate and system costs. This family of UXA234xx WiMAX transceivers improves reach and drives greater bandwidth and spectral efficiency, being particularly effective for accessing a WiMAX connection in dense urban areas. Because 2x2 MIMO allows for dual input and output channels, it addresses the requirements of bandwidth-intensive mobile applications, such as streaming data, voice and video data, without compromising network load and at a much lower cost to carriers.
