LTE Base Station Shares Platform with WiMAX

picoChip, in collaboration with mimoOn, announces its PC86xx family of LTE base stations that cover the full range of eNode Bs from femtocells to multi-sector macrocells. It is supported on the same common hardware platforms as proprietary WiMAX products. The family of base stations provide improvements in the UMTS mobile phone standard to cope with future requirements, including efficiency, costs, services, making use of new spectrum opportunities and better integration with other open standards. LTE has commonality with WiMAX, both being based on OFDMA in the downlink, all-IP architecture together with MIMO and adaptive antenna systems (AAS). As a software-defined system, it is future-proof, and it can be upgraded as the LTE standard is refined and updated.
