picoChip introduces its reference design for mobile WiMAX (IEEE 802.16e-2005). The picoChip software-upgradeable system is a comprehensive and cost-effective implementation of 16e for both WiMAX Wave 1 and Wave 2 profiles. In addition to providing complete and efficient 16e functionality, the development platform offers scalable support for multi-sector systems, Advanced Antenna Systems (AAS) and Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO), with an optional software upgrade from ArrayComm. This capability offers the flexibility to scale designs from small base stations up to large multi-sector AAS/MIMO systems. The reference design also includes a third-party radio for AAS/MIMO and can also support OBSAI RP3-1 and CPRI variants for remote radio units.
