Avago Technologies announces its APDS-9007 ambient light sensor with a precise logarithmic output response over a range of lighting conditions. The sensor is designed to cover a range of brightness (3 lux to 70 K lux), making ambient light sensing suitable for mobile and other applications such as outdoor lighting and solar panels which may be operated under direct sunlight. It is also designed to reduce power consumption and save battery life in portable and mobile devices by enabling the auto adjustment of the LCD backlight intensity and keypad lighting. Packaged in a miniature chipLED lead-free surface mount package, this compact sensor also sustains temperature ranges of -40° C to +85° C and Vcc supply from 2 V to 3.6 V.
