Tendril announces Version 1.0 of the Tendril Service Broker, a distributed run-time development platform that adds easier programming and greater control to wireless sensor networks (or ZigBee networks) by automatically orchestrating the actions of the network elements. Tendril’s technology provides a run-time development platform that allows organizations to fully leverage the power of wireless sensors and controls. The technology accomplishes this by providing a typical Java or .NET programming interface to instantiate, manipulate and orchestrate previously non-computerized functions in a distributed fashion across the entire network. Some of the ways the Tendril Service Broker meets the business and technical needs of companies deploying wireless sensor networks include: bridging the gap between the wireless sensor network hardware and the common enterprise and GUI programmers who want to quickly deploy applications; speeding deployment time by eliminating the software expense associated with “build from scratch” applications; using a run-time development platform to easily expand and extend applications to growing networks or new ones; supporting a mixed environment of hardware/network platforms, to enable interoperability in a heterogeneous environment.
