Endwave Defense Systems has announced its YIG (Yttrium Iron Garnet) frequency sources with high spectral purity needed for FMCW radar, microwave point-to-point radio and instrumentation applications. Aside from their low close-in noise characteristic, they provide large tunable bandwidths in comparison to dielectric resonator oscillators (DRO). The YIGs are provided up through Ku-Band, and these high fundamental frequencies also minimize spurious signals in advanced radars. Proprietary shock-mounting techniques minimize microphonics. They are available in two configurations, Micro-YIG and Mini-YIG, to address a range of packaging and operating parameters. They can be combined with phase-lock loop circuitry to form full synthesizer solutions.
